Jaguar Land Rover is focused fully on emerging technology. We will stay ahead of the curve, and ahead of our competition. One critical element to this centers around working with emerging startups that are developing technology we can use in many of our vehicles. It is with excitement that we would like to announce the expansion of our research and development operations.
Our company recently announced the new construction of a 20,000 square foot facility that will house our startup incubator program. This facility will be located in Portland, OR. 30 new positions will be created, with most of them consisting of developers and engineers. Long time Land Rover executive Rupert Poole will head up this operation. He will serve as the Senior Collaborations Manager for Future Technology.
The incubator will choose 3 startup companies at a time, and they will take part in 6 month programs. These emerging companies will have access to mentors, Jaguar engineers, working space, as well as direct investment.
AVE, Validated, and Lyfeboat are 3 of the startups currently in the incubator program. AVE is a company focused on innovation in the in-vehicle entertainment space. Validated lets shops, restaurants, and other businesses buy their customers rides and even pay for parking. Lyfeboat works with auto service centers, and assists them with logistics and online booking.
